Product Information
Description
A Junior Foot Drop Splint (Right) is a pediatric orthopedic device designed to support the right foot of children suffering from "foot drop," a condition where muscle weakness or nerve damage makes it difficult to lift the front part of the foot. These splints typically feature a rigid or semi-rigid polypropylene shell with a leaf-spring action that assists in lifting the foot during the walking "swing phase," preventing toe-dragging and tripping. Anatomical Shape: Designed to follow the natural contours of a child's leg and foot, ensuring balanced weight distribution and maintaining the foot in a functional, neutral position.
Leaf-Spring Mechanism: The dorsal shell uses a "leaf spring" action to arrest downward movement (plantar flexion) and provide the necessary push for toe clearance while walking.
Comfort Padding: Many models, such as the Tynor Foot Drop Splint Right (Child), include soft, hypoallergenic PE foam padding to protect bony areas and minimize skin irritation.
Lightweight & Slim Profile: Most units are thin-walled and lightweight (typically around 0.3 kg), allowing them to be worn comfortably inside most standard shoes.
Secure Fastening: Uses adjustablehook-and-loop (Velcro) straps at the calf and ankle for a customized, secure fit.
